ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS

  1. Ethical Considerations: For original research articles, appropriate ethical approval and patient consent forms (for case reports) must be provided.
  2. Conflict of Interest: Must be declared in all submitted manuscripts.
  3. Figures and Tables: Should follow the reference list in the order they are mentioned within the text. For images adapted from previous publications, proper attributions must be made with accompanying permission from the copyright holder.

By adhering to these guidelines, authors ensure their contributions are evaluated swiftly and effectively, enhancing the visibility and impact of their research within the scientific community.

PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT

Authors intending to submit their manuscripts to the Journal of Endocrine Tests should adhere strictly to the following guidelines to ensure compliance and facilitate a smooth review process.

  1. Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English. It is highly recommended that your text be proofread by a native English speaker before submission.
  2. Classification and Preliminary Review: Manuscripts are classified and evaluated based on the manuscript types specified. Editors conduct a preliminary review to assess the format and subheadings. Authors should, therefore, ensure their manuscripts are formatted accurately as described below.

TITLE PAGE:

  • Title: The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the content of the article (max 20 words). Avoid abbreviations and formulas. The first letter of the first word should be capitalized; the rest should be in lowercase, except for proper nouns and abbreviations.
  • Author Information: Do not include author names or institutions in the main text, tables, or figures to ensure impartial review. Include the following on the title page:
    • Authors' names and highest academic degrees.
    • Name of the department and institution.
    • City and country of the institution(s).
    • Indicate affiliations using symbols if multiple institutions are involved.
    • Corresponding author details: full name, postal address, email address, telephone, and fax numbers.
    • Information on prior presentation of the article, if applicable, including name, date, and place of the meeting.
    • Conflict of interest statement, institutional and financial support, author contributions, and acknowledgments.

STRUCTURED ABSTRACT:

  • Should include subheadings: Aim, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
  • Limit abstract to 300 words.
  • Briefly state the research purpose, key findings, and important conclusions.
  • Avoid references and nonstandard abbreviations. Define necessary abbreviations at first mention in the abstract.
  • State the level of evidence as a separate paragraph at the end.
  • A 'Main Points' section must be added after the abstract and before the keywords. Summarise your research under 3 points in this section. In the first point, state ‘What is known from the existing literature?’, in the second point ‘What was found in this study regarding this knowledge?’, and in the third point ‘What is suggested by these findings?’ in one sentence. The maximum word count of this section should be 150. (If you need help with this section, you can contact the editorial board by e-mail)

KEYWORDS:

  • Provide between three and six keywords in accordance with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms.
  • Place keywords immediately below the abstract.

MAIN TEXT:

  • Format: Prepare the text in MS Word, Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, on A4 paper with a 1 cm right margin and 3 cm other margins. Number pages with Arabic numerals. Avoid headers and footers.
  • Structure: The main text should include Title, Structured Abstract, Main Points, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, References, Figure Legends, and Tables.

Introduction:

  • State the objectives and provide sufficient background. Avoid detailed literature reviews or summaries of the results.

Materials and Methods:

  • Detail the methodology to allow replication. Cite previously published methods and describe relevant modifications. Include study design, location, subjects/patients, treatment procedures, statistical methods, and ethical compliance.

Results:

  • Present findings clearly and concisely using figures and tables as needed. Ensure descriptive statistics are consistent with nature of the data and statistical analyses.

Discussion:

  • Discuss the significance of the results without repeating them. A combined Results and Discussion section may be appropriate. Avoid extensive citations and discussions of published literature.

Conclusions:

  • Summarize the main results. This can either stand alone or be a subsection of the Discussion or Results and Discussion section.

Tables, Graphs, and Figures:

  • Number visuals consecutively as they appear in the text. Prepare tables using the 'Insert Table' command in MS Word, avoiding visual formats like JPEG or TIFF.
  • Provide a clear title for each table, not exceeding 60 words.
  • Ensure figures are uploaded as individual image files in .TIFF, .EPS, .JPEG, or .PPT format with necessary specifications (600 dpi resolution).
  • Abbreviations and footnotes should be defined and provided in alphabetical order at the bottom of tables, graphs, and figures.

Appendices:

  • Label multiple appendices as A, B, etc. Number formulas, equations, tables, and figures in each appendix separately.

Abbreviations:

  • Define nonstandard abbreviations at their first mention in a footnote on the first page of the article and ensure consistency throughout the text.

By following these guidelines, authors can enhance the quality and clarity of their manuscripts, aiding in the peer review process and increasing the likelihood of publication in the Journal of Endocrine Tests.

Acknowledgements:

Place acknowledgments in a separate section at the end of the article, situated before the references. Do not include any acknowledgments on the title page, as a footnote to the title, or elsewhere in the manuscript. This section should acknowledge any financial and/or technical support received for the work, such as assistance in conducting tests, interpreting results, providing linguistic aid, or proofreading the article. Include project numbers where applicable. If the work is derived from a thesis or has been previously presented at a meeting, indicate this in the acknowledgments. Additionally, specify the contribution of each author in this section.

Nomenclature and Units:

Adhere to internationally accepted rules and conventions by using the International System of Units (SI). When mentioning other quantities, provide their SI equivalents. If a nomenclature table is necessary, it should be included on the second page of the manuscript. Authors are advised to consult "IUB: Biochemical Nomenclature and Related Documents" for more detailed information.

Footnotes:

Footnotes should be used sparingly and numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript using superscript Arabic numerals. Many word processors have built-in features for inserting footnotes directly into the text, which should be utilized if available. If such features are not used, clearly indicate the position of footnotes within the text and list all footnotes separately at the end of the manuscript. Do not include footnotes in the reference list.

Mathematical Formulas:

Submit mathematical equations as editable text rather than images to ensure clarity and facilitate editing. Present simple formulas inline with the normal text whenever possible, utilizing the solidus (/) for small fractional terms (e.g., X/Y). Variables should be indicated in italics. Expressions involving powers of e are often more appropriately shown using the exp notation. Equations that are shown separately from the text should be consecutively numbered if they are explicitly referenced in the text.

Special Terms and Conditions:

  • Double-Blind Peer Review: To maintain impartiality during the double-blind peer review process, ensure that the names of the corresponding author and co-authors, their affiliations, and any information about their study centers are omitted from all parts of the manuscript and images, except on the Title Page. Include this information exclusively in the Title Page and the relevant section of the online submission system.
  • Pharmaceutical Names: Use generic names for pharmaceutical products. The brand and company names should also be mentioned. For medical equipment and devices, specify the city and country of the manufacturer.
  • Centrifugation Details: Provide the angular velocity (xg) for centrifugation procedures.
  • Decimal Notation: Use dots (.) to indicate decimals.

By adhering to these guidelines, you ensure that the material is presented clearly and professionally, facilitating the review process and enhancing the overall quality of the manuscript.

References:

  1. General Formatting:
  • Start the reference list on a separate page.
  • Include only published articles and those accepted for publication. Attach acceptance letters for articles awaiting publication.
  • Unpublished results should be noted in the text as “(unpublished result)” and ensure you have permission from the responsible researcher, submitting it along with the manuscript.
  1. Citation and Listing:
  • Arrange references in the order they appear in the text.
  • Use Arabic numerals in parentheses for citations.
  • Consecutive references should be cited as a range (e.g., “10-13” instead of “10, 11, 12, 13”).
  • Do not cite inaccessible or non-indexed references.
  • When referencing, mention real authors but always include reference numbers (e.g., '... as shown (8, 9). Dong and Zhang [10] obtained a different result ...').
  1. Author and Journal Formatting:
  • Reverse authors' names (last name, first/second initial); separate multiple authors with commas and end with a period (e.g., Polat  A, Panato JH, Maso CP.).
  • Use PubMed abbreviations for journal names.
  • For six or fewer authors, list all authors. For more than six authors, list the first six followed by 'et al.'
  • Do not use a period after journal abbreviations; continue with a space, then the year, followed by a semicolon, volume number, colon, and page numbers (e.g., 2021;9:376-93).
  • Exclude months in parentheses.
  • Use inclusive page numbers for articles and book chapters.
  1. Data References:
  • Cite primary or related datasets in the manuscript and include a data reference in the reference list with [dataset] before the reference.
  • Include author name(s), dataset title, data repository, version, year, and a global persistent identifier.
  1. Web References:
  • Provide the full URL and the date the reference was last accessed.
  • Include further information like DOI, author names, dates, and reference to the source publication if available.
  • Web references can be listed under a separate heading or included in the reference list.
  1. Special Issues:
  • References to other articles in the issue should be marked ‘this issue’.
